In order to properly care for and protect your skin, you need to have the right products that work best with YOUR skin. To date there are so many brands that create great skincare lines but not all of them will work for your skin in particular – obviously. I guess thats one of the pros and cons of being a beauty blogger. You get to test out many many skin care lines and some end up being too abrasive and take a toll on your skin and some work really well. Over the years however, I’ve gotten to learn more about my own skin and what works best and what doesn’t. I find that because my skin is pretty sensitive, any products that are natural or organic really do wonders. Yes, there is the high cost factor but the way I see it is I would rather splurge on products that go on my face rather than use something thats of lesser quality. Recently, I’ve teamed up with the brand Éminence Organic Skin Care for a collaboration to test out their skincare line. You may have come across this brand at your favourite spa – they are certainly a popular brand. What I love most about their products is that they are packed with antioxidants, nutrients, and vitamins. I’m going to show you guys their very simple 4-step routine which will give you amazing healthy and rejuvenated skin.
Step 1: Purify and Tone with Firm Skin Acai Cleanser, $38 (8.4 fluid ounces)
Antioxidant-rich acai berries are perfect for revitalizing skin that’s been out in the sun all day. With Acai Berry Juice as its main ingredient, this cream cleanser is chockfull of antioxidants and vitamins to moisturize and improve skin tone. Blending hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate and seabuckthorn oil to protect its moisture barrier, skin looks and feels smoother and suppler. The cleanser smells like an Acai berry smoothie. It is not your typical cleanser that soaps up with suds. I found it somewhat difficult to use with my Clarisonic so I just ended up using it with my hands instead -which is actually the correct way to use it. Mix the cleanser (just a small amount) with some water in your hands and apply it all over your face and neck. I usually do this for a good 2 minutes before I cleans with water and a damn cloth. It does a pretty good job at cleansing your skin and removing all the of dirt, makeup, and crap off your face.
Step 2: Exfoliate and Smooth with Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant, $48 (4.2 ounces)
Using only the mildest natural exfoliators, this dermafoliant helps maintain and improve the texture of skin. Rice powder and Chickpea flour absorbs oil, tighten pores, and gently buff skin while salicylic acids sourced from strawberries exfoliate to remove dead skin cells. It comes in a dry powder form which you can place in your hand or a little face mask bowl). Add in some water until you reach a creamy ‘paste’ consistency and just apply it all over your face (with your hands) in a circular massaging motion. Make sure to avoid your eye area because it does sting a bit if you get it in your eyes. I do this for about a minute and rising thoroughly with water.
Step 3: Tighten and Regenerate with Neroli Age Corrective Hydrating Mist, $38 (4.2 fluid ounces)
More sun exposure means not only dryer skin, but more wrinkles. This collagen boosting toner contains Natural Retinol Alternative Complex that tightens skin to give a more lifted appearance. Swiss Green Apple Stem Cells rejuvenate and maintain the look of skin’s elasticity, regenerating and strengthening cells. Neroli Oil serves as a fragrant antiseptic that refreshes and hydrates your complexion. An added boost from Coconut Milk provides extra nourishment while balancing pH levels. This hydrating mist is my favourite of the 4. Overall, it smells really nice and because of the coconut milk it leaves your face feeling silky smooth. I also love that its a plumping toner so it leaves your skin with a nice firm tightness but you don’t feel like like you do with other toners. Think of it as a tightening moisturizer 😀 I like to spray this directly onto my face and neck but you can also spray it on a cotton pad and apply that way if you prefer. Tip – I use this as a misting moisturizer before I apply my makeup for the day. It allows for a flawless application and hydrates your skin at the same time!
Step 4: Moisturize and Protect with Stone Crop Hydrating Gel, $59 (1.2 fluid ounces)
This hydrating gel penetrates deeply to soothe and heal a dry complexion, while also fighting pigmentation caused by sun exposure. Fortified with vitamins and nutrients, the powerful cactus juice of stone crop delivers instant moisture that leaves skin with a smooth matte finish. Antioxidant-rich green tea and bearberry extract reduce the appearance of age and sun spots while protecting against cell damage. Personally I wasn’t too sold on this. I prefer the traditional style moisturizer which is usually cream based. I didn’t particularly like the feel of a gel moisturizer but thats just my own personal preference. Overall it works really well. I wake up with a refreshed and silky smooth face. I like that its not overly heavy and thick. You can also dilute it a bit by adding a drop or two of water and mixing in your hands before you apply it to your face. It does a really good job at leaving your face matte so for people with oily skin this would work wonders for you. I would probably not recommend this for someone with dry skin because of the matte effect.
